Steel produced under the right conditions is the toughest, most durable steel. And that’s why we’ve put in state-of-the-art ambient air control infrastructure at our Vijayanagar facility. 

By being the first plant in India to use Corex technology for steel and hot metal production, our Vijayanagar Works gained an early-mover advantage and a definitive edge over the competition. 

Our Vijayanagar facility houses the largest blast furnace in India, producing steel for the ever-expanding needs of all the industries in which it plays a major role.

Rolled out in 1997, VIjayanagar Works’ hot strip mill is today the widest in India. It can roll products of a width of up to 2100 mm.

To meet the ever-growing demand for iron ore, we established the 2TPH BHQ (Banded Haematite Quartzite) Pilot Plant, which will be expandable to plant scale as and when needed.

Our Vijayanagar plant’s KR process uses lime-based desulphurization to lower sulphur levels and meet the requirements of various customers of that require less than 20 ppm sulphur for their operations.

Our Vijayanagar plant’s twin-stand reversible cold-rolling mills are engineered to deliver the best return on investment, by both, running at the low operating costs, and achieving maximum productivity for their capacity range.

Vijayanagar Works is the only plant in India with the game-changing pair-cross technology, which minimizes the thrust force and wear between the contacting work roll and the backup roll. 

At the Vijayanagar plant, we let nothing go to waste. So much so, that we use all the gas from our recovery coke ovens and generate 70MW of green power from the non-recovery coke ovens.
